Tomatoes or Pomodoro 🍅 — How I changed my day for MAX productivity?

I came across several YouTube videos on improving productivity & especially one technique called “Pomodoro Technique”.

In Pomodoro, you create a 25 min work slot ⏲️ on your calendar 🗓️ to focus on a specific work output & then take a 5-minute break.

No checking Inbox. No checking social media. No SMS. Put headphones on & ignore everything else around you.

How did I take this productivity hack and make it my own?

  1. Created a daily recurring 4 calendar slots on my Google Calendar from 6 am to 8 am and marked them “POM 1”, “POM 2”, “POM 3” and “POM 4” (25 min each).
  2. Moved each POM slot into my workday between 9 am & 6 pm with a meeting title changed to the task that I am working on. Eg. “POM 1 — Review Client Forecast”.

Creating a minimum of 4 POM slots is ideal per day especially on busier “meeting” days. On less busy “meeting days”, I used 8 POM slots.

What to do when someone comes over for “got a minute” meeting?

Tell them that you are currently in the middle of something and you’ll follow up.

Mark it on the calendar to follow up. Don’t let the “got a minute” 👨‍💼👩‍💼 interrupt your productivity flow.
